Would you like to paint along with me? In this step by step tutorial we’ll paint a wine glass with acrylics.
When looking at the reference picture we can easily be overwhelmed by everything we see. We may wonder how we’re ever going to be able to paint that shiny glass.
In this series I try to show you that as painters we can look ‘past’ the subject. When we just focus on forms, shapes and colors we automatically build a painting of a transparant, shiny and reflective glass.
We’ll start from scratch with a blank canvasboard. In the first video we’ll construct the sketch. In the second video we’ll add the first layer of colors. In the third video we’ll continue building on the foundation we made, we’ll refine some things and add details.
List of materials:
- canvas, canvasboard, panel or paper. In this series I use a canvasboard of 30 x 40 cm (11.8 x 15.7 inch)
- brushes
- gesso and spalter
- acrylics: titanium white and ivory black (or another black), burnt umber, burnt sienna, cadmium red middle, cadmium yellow light, ultramarine (of course you can use similar other colors)
- jar of water and (paper) towel
- palette
Good luck and enjoy painting!
